I've tried the Goldtrax setup as you described, and every other way I thought it might work better in iron. I've spent untold hours trying various configurations on the Goldtrax and also many other detectors trying to set them to match the 1650. The Goldtrax can be very good, but there's no way to set it to where it can match the 1650 in iron in my ground. No contest in depth, the 1650 has good depth in all metal mode but the Goldtrax blows it away in disc mode. I don't think the penny was hit with a hammer. A hammer would have flattened at least part of the penny and there's no flat places except a small place on the rim right over the U in what should be TRUST that has part of the S and the T missing. The punched out place is right where the O in ONE CENT should be. Strange that it was found at the same place as the penny in the photo below that has part of the 7 in the date and the T and Y in LIBERTY gone.
