After reading Paul’s post, I thought I would post my thoughts about the whole Discovery thing.
I have sold my share of CoinTrax equipped units, both older style, and newer Millennium II’s. By far the largest complaint I hear, and the reason they sell them off, is because it’s too complex for them to understand, learn.
Going to the GoldTrax unit may be the better option to jump in with. It doesn’t have the complex sequence of adjustments that completely baffles users, and it is a super working unit. Not only does it excel in the department for what it was designed, (nugget hunting), it’s a great gold jewelry hunter. Combining that with the great base Baron discrimination circuit, gives one a good coin hunter. Needless to say, it needs to be put together in the Millennium case, not the aluminum case.
A change in the “S” rod needs to be made, as the distance between the S bend, and the arm cup is just too short for most. This a minor complaint.
Resume manufacture of the coils they no longer make, like the 5.5” & the 6”X 9” DD.
Have the “Black Sand” module made available.
Change to one type of coil connector. The Millennium Baron II uses a different connector than all the rest of the Barons.
Resume manufacture of the SST version. Promote it’s great jewelry, coin hunting ability.
This would be a good start for them. Done a little at a time the cost wouldn’t be prohibitive. I’m not convinced that this would be a costly thing for them to do at all. They make the best 2 box unit out there, combining 1 or 2 detectors with that, (if done correctly), should produce good results for them.

PS: I still have a somewhat good stock of new Barons, SST’s, and a few older Barons, and SST’s. Coils are becoming scarce. The 5.5” are few & far between, I have 2. The 6”X 9” DD is real scarce, I have 1 in stock.
