Well JB I haven't much to add to your findings. 12.5 kHZ is the frequency used with the Baron and the early Teknetics units. The difference between the two was Tek used a crystal to control the frequency and the Baron uses a tank circuit with both X and C in the coil and the oscillator circuit. BTW that depiction of beach hunting with a White's detector probably explains the poor performance. The coil distance to ground, the attitude of the coil and the hasty covering of ground sure misses a lot of things.....other than the hilarity of the greed displayed....
