I played a bit more and found that 41 (solid on 6, blinking on 9) on both all metal and discriminate works for my particular machine. I'm not sure if It would ID a ring as small as the one you have pictured, but it will find a small ladies solitaire band. Then I back off the discriminate knob until a pull tab just clears up. All gold except large men's rings will give at least some low tone. And the rings big enough pass into PT range will bounce between PT, nickel, and foil on the LED's. A quick switch to AM will weed out the can lids and older screw caps. It's getting to where I'm reasonably sure that what I'm digging isn't junk. And man this thing goes deep!
