Hunting graveled parking areas is tough, but I've found a lot of coins and a few nice jewelry items in them. I made the tool in the photo by drilling a hole in a hard rubber ball and using JB Weld to glue a 9 inch screwdriver blade in it. It makes recovering coins in gravel a lot easier. I can jab it into all but the hardest hardpan under the gravel and pry out chunks without having to hammer it in
