I lobbied George pretty hard to put the 10 tone audio in the 2.2 chip but unlike the SST, and the Newforce CS-5ZX that the SST was based on, the audio on the modular Barons is handled by the base board. He said the base board would have to be modified to add more tones and that was beyond the scope of what he intended by designing version 2.2 chip. I got a CS-5ZX, which was a joint effort between Discovery Electronics and C-Scope, right afer they came out about 10 years ago and really liked the audio (except for the overload signal, which was way too loud and sensitive and was changed to a more pleasing, low volume level audio on the SST) and I used an SST Mr Bill sent on several hunts but neither have the depth capabilities of the Cointrax. The CS-5ZX had the same type notch feature as your Cobra II had but the depth was about the same as the Tesoro Golden µMax. The SST has more depth than the CS-5ZX, and the ability to switch between 10 tone, 2 tone or 1 tone audio but the notch was left off. Link is what I wrote about the SST after using it, photo is me with the CS-5ZX right after I found my only Civil War belt plate with it
