Hi Paul,
The Fisher DD works with the Mark 1, Look at it as a means of filtering instead of DD coverage if someone was located in areas of bad ground.
The pros are being able to take the Mark 1 in areas you may have problems due to mineralization.
The cons are less depth and less sensitivity on smaller targets, You'll loose about 2" inches depth compared with the 10" coil, Smaller size foil type or ear ring type signals are eliminated making the fisher DD a terrible coil for gold jewelry detecting for those that go after ear rings and such.
It's something to play with but I feel it's a means of having an extra filter for tough soil, That's about all it's good for when used with the Mark 1.
