"Using the Black Sand Module is not the same as turning the sensitivity down. Both will produce similar results with less noise from trash. However, there is a great deal of difference between the two approaches. The Black Sand Module reduces the voltage drive to the loop. This will reduce sensitivity but more importantly it improves the detector’s overdrive capabilities. In other words it takes more targets or closer targets to saturate the front-end detector circuits. The intended application for the Black Sand Module was (of course) for use in black sand. However, it can be used in any application where strong signals are present."
