Thx JB. Dont worry about the 10 turn pot, unless its a tiny one 
All the ones I could find were 7/8" diameter....that would be a real tight fit to get it in this box. If I could find a pots around 1/2" that might work. I didnt call Digikey, they may have micro pots but I didnt see any on their website
I bought both boxes at the electronics store that I bought everything else at (jacks, plugs, battery holder, wire etc) They had a couple of shelves of these 'project boxes' all sorts of shapes and sizes. I would guess that the control box might be used to house a DVD/CD drive or an external hard drive.
Next time I pop off the cover I'll take some pics of the inside, everything fit pretty good
