Having spent a few months with the Cointrax I'm finally getting the hang of it. We've had a lot of rain and my back yard is still giving up coins. Two more wheaties in two days. They were near iron. Everything seems to be. But short, slow sweeps ferreted them out.
I've been back to the ghost town of Necatunga but still no luck. Just one shotgun shell and a piece of a clock movement. I'm afraid most of what hasn't already been found is masked. All that iron makes you wonder how much is out there that'll never be found. I'll keep trying when I get time though. It's a big place.
The Cointrax pinpoints impressively. Usually dead-center on coins and in some cases I'm putting the screwdriver right though the middle of a pull tab. They pop out awful easy that way!
So far this year in maybe 10-15 hours total time: 1 roosie, 1 silver quarter, 1 Franklin half, over a dozen wheaties, and a couple of bucks in clad.
I usually swing in all-metal SD set around 41 staccato on. If I get something I'll switch to motion SD set at 46, staccato off, disc knob at 9 o'clock, and iron reject off. That puts the low grunt around pull tab/ring tab.
Sometimes I get lazy and pass on the pull tab/zinc signals, especially if they're not the same in two directions. But I'm always wondering if I'm missing a ring with a big mount or maybe on end.
Have a great day!
