I guess it's a carry over from detectors not having disc modes when I started detecting, but I still use all metal mode a lot on detectors that have a true all metal mode. But like you, I'm also spoiled by the staccato audio on the Cointrax 2.2 and Goldtrax in all metal mode. It's a feature that all detectors should have
