Although I'm not nearly as experienced as others on this board I can tell you a few things as they apply to me.
Compared to the Garrett, Compass, and Bounty Hunters I've used the Cointrax is superior in both handling mineralized soil and in ferreting out goodies near iron. Now I doubt any detector will find a coin directly on top of large iron but the Baron is better than anything I've tried. Short slow sweeps will find coins among some very dense trash.
Coil availability is spotty, I'm still looking for a 5.5 but the 8" separates pretty well and is as deep as many modern competitors using larger coils.
