Added to JB and Bill's comments I would say that having a bench test trying the various settings with various targets can be a good rainy day project to familiarize yourself. This a a detector designed to do an awful lot, and it is easy to get intimidated by it at first. Stick with it, because as you can see by the posts on this forum, the rewards will pay off.
