Thanks for the coil cover tip Mike,
The 5.5" detects almost as deep as the 8" coil, It's deep little coil that's for sure.
Plus, Sepration will help you get finds between the trash the 8" may miss.
My best find with the Baron 5.5" coil is a seated dime, After going over a pounded site hit by top end detectors including the Baron with an 8" coil dug a deep seated dime surounded by square nails, The dime was down about 6-7" inches in packed hard ground.
Later in the week, same location pulled out another seated dime. Like other tools inj the trade I don't use it enough like I should.
