Most of the time I can't run my Cointrax at the preset Disc mode setting, which is at the #3 LED, and couldn't even with the original 1.0 chip without it being noisy. At that setting it's always been a little too noisy at most of the places I've hunted, even though my ground is virtually mineral free, and with the DeepSearch mode turned on it's even worse. Except for a couple of times I've set the sensitivity on either the #4 or #5 LED position and when I've used the DeepSearch mode I set it at LED #3. It worked well at those settings, and got way down there in depth. I ran it with both the sensitivity and DeepSearch mode set at the #2 LED while using the 10 inch coil on one hunt, at an old church site I posted about it on here. At those settings it was way unstable and a pain to use, but while I didn't find anything worthwhile I got brass ends from 12 gauge shotgun hulls a foot down and a horseshoe at least two feet deep. You'll have to experiment in your ground, but will likely wind up with settings similar to what I use if you have good ground.
