The Prohunter is a helluva detector for coin hunting. The notch setup on my A&S, and the Cobra II's, is the same as the Prohunter and you're right, it's a killer on coins and lets very little trash through. Something that works on my A&S that might work on your Prohunter that helps knock out the newer two hole tabs. I can set the notch knob to accept higher coins, either rejecting or accepting zinc pennies, and the Disc knob to just accept nickels. When I get a low tone nickel signal, I pinpoint, set the coil on the ground over the target, toggle back to Disc mode and a nickel, or something with the same conductance, will give nonstop, solid beeps. A two hole tab will give intermittent beeps. The only tabs that fool it are those that are bent or broken, and occasionally a tail from one of the old beaver tail style tabs. The last two days I've cleaned the dug coins I've found since late February or early March in a tumbler and my wife rolled them. Had more nickels than I thought considering I've been hunting the same places the park and rec guys and I hunt on an almost daily basis.
