Yesterday I took the GMT 1650 out and it wouldn't ground balance. Instead of the normally too positive balance it was way negative and wouldn't balance anywhere near neutral. Swapped coils this morning and took it outside to make sure that wasn't the problem but still way too negative, even at the positive limit. Later today I took the A&S out and the ground balance pot on it broke. The shaft would slide out and in about a quarter of an inch and the ground balance went so positive it wouldn't give a signal on a quarter. Don't have a clue how it happened as I didn't drop it, bang it against anything or do anything I don't normally do. I swapped the pot out and the A&S works fine, but after the chip going bad in the Cointrax it seems when I get one detector working another one quits
. The pot that broke has Vishay Spectrol on it, I assume that's the brand name or the name of the company that made it as it came from Digi-Key.
