I had an extra 10 turn pot in my spare parts drawer, so all I had to do was desolder the broke pot and solder the new one in. I had a 1 turn pot on the A$S for awhile and it worked as well as the 10 turn pots. Something odd about the A&S that I finally figured out after swapping several pots of different values, if the ground balance is set neutral or just slightly positive in all metal mode it's too negative in disc mode and will sound off on every hot rock within a foot of the coil. Only had that happen with one other detector, a Tesoro Golden Sabre II back in the mid 1990's. Actually, I guess I could include the Shadow X5 as it had to be set almost a full turn positive to knock out the hot rocks and chatter. I'm not really concerned about the 1650 since I rarely use it anymore, but if I can't sort it out I'll probably send it to Keith Wills eventually and let him get it going. I do need to get the base board the disc pot/iron reject switch is bad on fixed. Been meaning to call Ron about a pot/switch but haven't got around to it yet.
