Now you got me curious Bill, With both the King Cobra and GMT 1650 having a different circuit.
When I added in a GB pot to my King Cobra and later when the voltage run too low, It did the same thing JB's 1650 did with the GB stop working....The unit still operated ok but the GB didn't work, So I checked the batteries and sure enough the voltage was very low so I replaced them.
Then, The GB came back when a new set of batteries so now I know when my GB quits working the batteries are running too low
