Monday, after lunch, I passed the sports complex down the street and noticed the two park and rec guys and their boss walking around on one of the soccer fields swinging detectors. My wife and I passed by there at various times Tuesday and they were there every time, still swinging their detectors. I went by about 7:30 yesterday morning and one of them was there again, swinging his detector, so I stopped and asked what they were looking for. He said they were hunting for the markers, iron spikes about 6 inches long with heads about two inches in diameter that had been driven in the ground, that marked the boundaries of the fields but couldn't find them and had decided the people who put the sod down had pulled them up and discarded them.
He showed me where he thought one should be, but said they had covered the small area thoroughly several times and couldn't find it with their Whites or Bounty Hunters. I had my old Compass Coinhustler in the truck, and since the spikes were big enough for it to detect I got it out and found the first marker almost immediately. The P&R guy had been standing right on top of it while talking to me. There were 24 markers on two fields and it took less than an hour to find the other 23. I got 22 of the 24 with the old Compass and the P&R guy found two, but probably only because they were in line with those I found. He was lucky to find those since he was using the normal pendelum swing he and the other P&R guy uses, that's with the coil about four inches off the ground in the middle of their swing and at least a foot off the ground at each end of a swing, and also had the front of his coil tilted up about 90 degrees.
Wasn't supposed to be doing anything that required getting hot, bending or stooping until I go back to the doc later today, but I don't think it hurt anything. Supposed to find out today if more surgery will be required, hopefully it won't and I'll get the okay to go back to normal activities.
