I fibbed in the title, I was actually under the bleachers at the football stadium with the old Coin Hustler. I threw my back out early Saturday morning and have barely been able to hobble around the house, let alone go detecting, but decided to give it a shot about noon today. I gave it the old college try, but had to call it off in less than 30 minutes. Back to the bleachers. A few years ago the wooden seats on the bleachers were replaced with aluminum seats. The heads of the bolts that held the wooden seats on were cut off and what was left of the bolts dropped into the gravel under the bleachers. I tried to hunt under there with the A&S/5.5 coil after the first football game three weeks ago and found a couple of coins, but there's so many bolts and nails the newer detectors are virtually useless. I thought the bolts were big enough the Coin Hustler would detect them, and few were, but while the rest nulled the threshold it would detect a coin under them. Lots of coins, and tabs, mixed in with the bolts. I got the coins in the photo, plus a dozen or so tabs, and only covered a small area before the old back cramped up. By the way, I haven't seen the coach I found the wedding band for. He was gonna bring me a football T shirt and some other stuff Saturday but so far he's a no show.
