The Viper I got from Paul is kinda like a box of chocolates. I never know what I'll get when I turn it on. I mentioned in the post below the notch had stopped working, but I used the Viper to hunt the home site today and just for the heck of it I tried the notch to see if it had started working again. Darn if it didn't work. Sort of. It couldn't be set to reject zincs or anything lower, but could be set to reject wheaties, copper pennies and dimes. Both the Disc/Tone knob and Notch work backwards from the A&S. On the A&S I have to turn both knobs clockwise from their maximum counter clockwise setting to set the notch starting point and notch width, on the Viper the Disc/Tone knob has to be turned all the way clockwise, then back counterclock wise to set the notch starting point, and today the Notch knob had no effect up through zinc pennies when turning it clockwise but turning it a little further resulted in copper pennies and dimes being rejected while zincs and lower conductive targets were accepted?? I tried to pull the board a couple of times to take a look but somehow Paul got it jammed in the case so tight I'm kinda afraid I'll break something getting it out. Also can't set the tone break to give high tone on anything lower than copper pennies and sometimes they give a mixed tone, but like the notch not working correctly it isn't really a problem as works great the way it is.
