Denny came by this afternoon and after discussing where to go for a hunt we decided to try the old lookout fire tower on Cotton Gin hill. It hasn't been used in years, except as a dump, but when I was in school back in the 1950's and early 60's it was the place for young folks to park, spark and party. Bad trashy but a fun hunt, and since Denny's family owns the land no permission was needed. I probably got the most coins, 47, but Denny got the best find of the day, a 1943 Mercury dime. I wound up with 7 wheaties, 36 memorial pennies, two clad dimes and two nickels. Denny also had a couple of clad dimes, a clad quarter, two nickels, three wheaties and several memorial pennies. More coins than I expected, but was expecting more silver as it was still in circulation for a lot of years when the fire tower was a parking, beer drinking, loving and party place
. Top photo is firetower, meager finds in bottom photo.
