Yeah, I used the A&S with the 5.5 coil. The A&S isn't as good for shooting through or under iron trash as the 1650 but once I got the hang of rolling the notch width pot to check targets it does well in nonferrous trash, which was what 99% of the trash at the fire tower consisted of. I have the A&S mounted upside down under the pole, and in places with a lot of nonferrous trash I turn the notch on, set nickels with the audio knob to give a lot tone and then turn the notch knob to it's minimum setting without being turned off. That gives a low tone on nickels and a high tone on everything above nickels, and when I get a high tone signal I roll the notch knob with my first finger to see where it falls in the conductivity tange. It works extremely well. Combined with the the subtle variation in the audio and how a target pinpoints it works so well I've almost always been able to determine where a target is in the conductivity range better than the guys I've hunted with that use detectors with ID meters.
