Boy oh boy, I’m just like the cobbler who has holes in the bottom of his shoes because he doesn’t get around to fixing them.
It’s been s long since I have used the Cointrax, I forgot how it runs. Topping it all off, yours is a Cointrax II. I don’t have a Cointrax (II) to compare with. The audio acts different on a modular Cointrax than it does on the non modular II version. The basic operation is the same between them, but there are differences. If I get a chance within the next few days, I’ll check out the settings.
It does well hitting on gold nuggets, but those are the nuggets I have, and there near solid gold. If your nugget is gold imbedded in a stone formation, the mineral makeup will affect how the detector responds. It’s most likely to respond like it was iron. With that said, you need turn on the staccato audio like JB suggested.
Be sure to have the discrimination opened up more, if using it in the discrimination mode.
