Thanks guys - well let me tell where I am now. I reset to factory settings and made sure Standard dis and deep search is off. In all metal mode when I raised the constant staccato auto by pressing the right arrow to get a constant sound - I had to lower the all metal mode sensitivity to get direct responses without interference. And it hit the gold nugget and gold flakes I have in a glass bottle with a plastic cap - thought that was cool. However, in all metal mode - no lights came on the LED? So went wrong some place - thoughts? In motion mode at factory reset - I put out in my test area a silver liberty dime 1945, current dime, 1950's nickel, 1940's wheat penny and a 2003 penny and a large 1800's penny and the gold nugget. The LED while it hit the correct indication on the silver dime and nickel it would also bounce between many of the other LED choices - the gold showed up as iron and the big penny as a dollar with lots of movement between the other LED displays. Move it to the coin preset and that lowered the bouncing around and the machine was a bit more accurate. The Staccato used a lower tone for iron, gold and the nickel and higher tone for the other coins. In the All metal Mode the Staccato keep the same sound tone for all items but no LED display - blank.
So what do you think and what about the non LED display in All Metal Mode?
I have the little four page manual that came with the machine, the newer cointrax II user manual, the cointrax II Programming Reference Guide and the Cointrax II Hunting Tips and Engineering Details guide. I have 30 years experience in sales and marketing and having 4 menus is a sure way of going broke. Should have combined all into one with sets of examples settings so people could work from one page on a particular subject and not have to bounce between four manuals. But I digress.
Appreciate you two taking the time to help out.
Ron
