....JB...I am close on your heels....LOL...I started in 1970 with a Garrett SideWinder BFO...it was traded off years ago but I missed it ...so I searched for one...and found a Near Mint model that I would Never get rid of again....Back then there were No local clubs and No internet...we...me and my dad just accepted what we found..there was No one else to compare it to.....LOL....we did not know that it would be considered finding a lot in the future...we found a lot of trash but also found a lot of silver coins and gold rings....we just thought that this was all Normal....What we did not know at the time was that those simple detectors did not have the problem of target masking so they tended to find all of the good stuff mixed in with all of the junk...now the junk....we did not know about that either...but was wise to keep it all....did not know that old bottles...old barb wire....old iron relics...old bullets ...old medalions were collectable...LOL....kept it all though...did not have the resources that we have today to figure what was valuable or not...today all one needs to do is google an item or even look if it is listed on FeeBay...not the case back then....years later but still years before the internet...I use to subscribe to a few auction catalogs so I would have a reference library...oh how the times have changed.....but not me....LOL...I plan in 2012 to go back to all of my hammered sites with my Compass Judge 2...and hunt in the STD mode and pay close attention to all of the weak and very loud signal which should have been found with all of the new fangled detectors that I have used on these sites.....a lot is because of target masking....some is because of not digging all of the very low conductive signals....AGAIN CONGRATS ON THE ANNIVERARY .....JOE
