Since today was my oldest daughters birthday, her 48th, and the festivities were at our home I didn't have much time for detecting, but I sneaked off to a playground for a half hour or so. I used the $2.70 Dirt Cheap detector and my first find of 2012 was a zinc penny, followed by four dimes and 8 more pennies. My first find of 2011 was also a zinc penny and it wound up as a fairly good year of detecting. We didn't count the clean coins or pennies, but I got almost $190 in dirty nickels, dimes and quarters to go with the pennies and clean coins, so I got several dollars over $200 and beat my 2009 and 2010 totals. The Gold and silver jewelry found in the first 6 months of 2011 was sold to Midwest Refineries for $478 and I still have the planted hunt gold wedding band, a couple of silver rings, a huge silver necklace and a couple of silver bracelets found since July, so it was a pretty good year
