I was 17 months old when I survived Eastern Flight 401. My mother, Carmen Jorge, was killed in the crash. I was told that there was another child on board that also survived. I fortunately have no recollection of the crash now, but the loss of my mother has of course been a life long source of sorrow. Thanks to the website administrator for remembering those lost and honoring their memories in a respectable way.
: I am old enough to remember the horrific crash
: of Flight 401, but recently, a young friend,
: who was not born until years after the
: crash, was telling me of her grandmother
: experiencing a plane crash in a
: "swamp" and after some
: discussions we realized it must have been
: this flight. I checked the survivor listing
: and sure enough, the grandmother's name,
: Jessie LaRusso, was there. My friend recalls
: her grandmother speaking of two children
: that she pulled from the water who stayed
: with her until they were rescued. Does
: anyone have any more details? Mrs. LaRusso
: passed away several years ago, but her
: granddaughter is curious.
:
: To all the passengers and crew of flight
: 401, may God bless you.
