I came to know Jerry in the years after the crash. He told me that even though he was in the water, strapped motionless in his seat, in pain, with broken bones aplenty, he tried diligently to listen for other survivors and to triangulate their locations. As the ambulances arrived, Jerry did his utmost to vector the rescuers to others. Finally they came for Jerry. He tried to have them look elsewhere in hopes of identifying other survivors but the rescuers said... "you are the last one." His selfless actions especially at a time of great personal pain, taught me many valuable lessons.
