Goblins - The goblinoids have been a scourge since before human memory, and the elves have tales of great wars and conflicts in the past.
There are several major tribes of goblins located primarily in the western mountain regions known as the Jagged Coast. Most of the goblinoids are ruled/enslaved by hobgoblin tribes. The goblinoids are at war among themselves more often than with other races which keeps their threat in check somewhat.
Jagged Spear Goblins - The Jagged Spear Goblins are from the vicinity of the Taranis Mountains in the Jagged Peaks range. They are bluish skinned, use spears and frequently use drums and horns to intimidate their foes. Their symbol is a lightning bolt shaped spear.
The Krissblade Goblins are from the southern Jagged Peaks range, but live primarily in the forested foothills of the range. Their favored weapons are wavy bladed short swords, which they also use as their symbol. They are riders of giant spiders.
The Gloommist Goblins live in a valley called the Vale of Mists and a swampy area called Blackmire in the Jagged Peaks mountain range. They have dark gray skin and of the Goblin tribes, they are known to be the stealthiest. Their symbol is a black or gray cloud with eyes.
The Serpent's Eye Goblins are named for Serpent Mountain in the Jagged Peaks range that seems to be their home, the Serpentís Eye Goblins are green skinned and are known to use poison, and their symbol is a crude black serpent.
-The Jagged Peaks Goblins are ruled by a powerful Hobgoblin tribe of snake worshipers and have been growing in power for many decades, dominating or wiping out other lesser tribes and expanding their territory. The poison they typically use causes an hour of fatigue, but they sometimes have deadlier poisons. They have been fighting most frequently with the Jagged Spear Goblins.
-The Hobgoblin masters sometimes display snakelike characteristics such as snake eyes, scaly skin, or fangs and they worship a goblin headed snake goddess. The tribal leaders referred to as Warmasters frequently have snake heads instead of normal heads.
There have been several major conflicts between the Angharad and goblinoids (usually when the goblinoids tribes have strong leadership and temporarily put aside their internal conflicts). The First Goblin War was about 200 years ago. The Second Goblin War was about 120 years ago. During that conflict Clan Fionn was driven from its lands around the town of Twynoch when a giant joined forces with the Serpent's Eye goblins. Those lands remain in the hands of the giant and Serpent's Eye goblins since those times.
Most recently (last year?) there was a major conflict around Cerdwigg, a human settlement almost literally surrounded on three sides by all four of the major tribes. Serpent's Eye goblins pushed south along the Sinann River raiding settlements and homesteads, while the Jagged Spear Goblins pushed east along the Prywn river doing the same. There is still a lot of confusion about the events and battles that took place and exactly how the goblins were defeated.
This is where Drust's family was from and where he had most of his experience fighting goblins in the militia.
I can give some more specific information pointing out some areas on the maps when we play next.
