Posted by Transformers Forever on September 19, 2006, 10:10 am Of late I have been rebuilding the Ghost Rider section of my site, which includes a nice section on the old COWBOY Ghost Rider now named Phantom Rider. I have recently come across an anomaly in my old data files on this character. I had long read from the old Handbook entries that Carter Slade was the first Rider, then after he was mortally wounded his brother Lincoln took over until his "mysterious death" which would years later be dealt with in West Coast Avengers in a story involving Hamilton Slade, descendent of Lincoln. Then comes Blaze of Glory that retros in the Reno Jones character as another Rider (albeit briefly as the Rider) in the old west days. The anomaly I have found of late is that Carter had a kid sidekick named Jamie Jacobs whom he apparently taught some or all of his tricks to, and that when Carter is wounded/dying in Western Gunfighters #6, apparently in Western Gunfighters #7, Jamie takes over in place of Carter only to be killed rather quickly and THEN Lincoln suits up as the THIRD Rider instead of the Second Rider as I've long thought. This anomaly is further compounded by the West Coast Avengers storyline that dealt with Lincoln as the Rider NEVER mentioning how Jamie was briefly a Rider and that Lincoln unmasked the dying Rider to see that it was his brother, Carter. So I need help. Does ANYONE OUT HERE have issues #6 and #7 of the old Western Gunfighters series of the 1970's, and can they please upload scans of the pages that deal with the demise of Carter and Jamie and Lincoln taking over? Please? I'd like to have this clarified for my site's Ghost/Phantom rider section. Thanks in advance!
