Posted by Luke Thanks for the overview. I didn't know much about Jack until I bought the Essential trade and now I really dig him. So I guess he is pretty much back to the way he was originally, which is to say that for the First, Second, and Third Nights you'd better watch out. Hopefully the "WBN" movie will eventually get made... I mean, I think there's a lot of good stuff you could spin into a movie for Jack Russell. --Previous Message--

Dana,
: Hi Luke,
:
: I'll try to help you out here (since nobody
: else has stepped in and I'm a huge Werewolf
: By Night fan)...
:
: Sort of "Reader's Digest"
: summary...
:
: Jack had control of his werewolf half for
: quite a while (except of course, under a
: full moon). He was mutated by Dr. Malus in
: the original Spider-Woman series and began
: changing into a more wolf-like form under
: the full moon. His powers became more and
: more out of control...So much so, that he
: joined the Night Shift (a Los Angeles-based
: team of supernatural criminals formed by the
: Shroud)...So that one of their
: number...Dansen Macabre could help him stay
: in control during the full moon nights with
: her mesmeric abilities. Jack and the Shroud
: created the team together in trying to use
: these criminals to battle crime (a rather
: unusual way to fight the criminal element),
: without the rest of the Night Shift knowing
: they were being used. Both men eventually
: left the team and went their seperate ways.
:
: later in a Marvel Comics Presents multi-part
: story, Jack was shown to be losing control
: all together. During that story...Near
: death after being shot with silver by the
: Silver Dagger's followers, Jack eventually
: made peace with the Wolf-side of himself and
: achieved total control of his werewolf
: powers (even under the full moon) and he
: could even choose to pass on the curse or
: not.
:
: He travelled around for a while looking for
: others he might be able to help with their
: curses (including the Wendigo in later story
: in Marvel Comics Presents). He met Dr
: Strange and was reunited with Topaz briefly
: (too briefly, if you ask me), Fought some
: goblins and guest-starred in the Morbius
: series for a bit (even getting killed
: temporarilly by Blade).
:
: He somehow lost control again (revealed in
: latest series)...He remained a bit out of
: control until his character went into limbo
: again, unfortunately. I guess Marvel
: thought he was more interesting having
: little control of his curse.

: Hey everyone. I have been reading
: "Essential Werewolf By Night" and
: so far have really enjoyed it. I have a
: question regarding the current status of our
: favorite lycanthrope.
:
: In the early days, Jack would turn into the
: Werewolf for the 3 nights of the full moon.
: And I know that later on, he could control
: his transformation at any time of night,
: except during the full moon when he would
: change into a more feral werewolf
: uncontrollably.
:
: My question is, is this the way his powers
: still work? Where he can become a somewhat
: intelligent Werewolf most of the month, but
: during the full moon he becomes the more
: savage Werewolf? Or has this change be
: further developed? Any help would be
: appreciated.
:
: I wish Marvel would bring back WBN, what
: with Moon Knight and The Committee kicking
: around again.
