Afterall, Marvel did a great job of screwing up the origins of the Dan Ketch one once ivan valez jr took over. Practically everything Ivan did for Dan/GR's origin contradicted/ignored anything Howard Mackie established. (not to mention that AWFUL costume he wore until Texeria returned to the art and they switched him back) Valez's weak story, and the crummy artwork is what killed the last GR series. Also on a related note, after searching for sometime I have obtained a scan of the lost cover to GR#94 as well as the script. It was an interesting ending. Ivan also comments that had the series continued, and Mackie not reset GR in Spiderman #93, that by issue#100, in an effort to contain Zarathos, Blaze would be merged with him again.

From what I've gathered, this series IS John Blaze as GR, and he is again the Ghost Rider. Apparently his deal with the devil/mephisto from the old days still haunts him.

: I heard it's based on an alternate reality.

: i dunno. if you read Joe Quesada's comments
: about it on Newsarama or Comic Book
: Resources, he said that the reason they're
: not doing "Ultimate Ghost Rider"
: is because the character's premise works
: best in the "normal" Marvel
: Universe. That kind of leads me to think
: that this book will be set in regular Marvel
: continuity or will at least be a Marvel
: Knights series.
