(1) Don't bring much attention to one self, because when you're facing the undead, the last thing you need is to have the police or super-heroes to get in your way when you're making the killing blow, since the vampire would be focused on killing you. Timing counts when facing someone who can turn into mist. (2) Move about so you can't be found except thru certain contacts based on a system that I think that Harker created when he was alive. He did start a network of vampire hunters in ToD. Blade has nothing to do with the Avengers and if Bendis makes him an Avenger, or honorary one, and he accepts, then the character is ruined. It's like they're using the monster fab to promote their non-monster books while not caring about the possible damages. The same perhaps goes for Elsa Bloodstone in Next Wave.

If the New Avengers meet him accidently where the problem involves vampires, then fine, but if they contact him and ask him to join then that's cheap and out of character.
