Hello, I am trying to find a book that I read in an English class during my freshman year of college. It is about a guy who is in high school and I am pretty sure it takes place in the 70's. He learns about love and life. He takes a girl to the prom and after they go to a motel and he signs in under the name of Billy Joel. The two do not end up having sex, because she may be a lesbian if I remember correctly. That is all I really remember, but I know that it was a good book. If anyone can help me figure out the title to this book, then please let me know! It would be greatly appreciated!
