I've been searching for this book forever but can't for the life of me remember the name!
The book was about a young girl named Lori who saw a horse in a field on her way home from school one day. Lori used to have horses but her mother banned them from thier family farm after her father was in a riding accident.
So Lori goes to the farm where she sees the wild horse: a grey arab named storm. the owner explains that he bought the horse for his son, who apparently wanted a 'mans horse' so Lori asks to work with the horse and he allows her. She builds storms trust with simple exorcises such as teaching her to 'shake' her hoof on command.
Eventually the horse is broken and Lori gets to ride the horse until another girl in Lori's class who has a lot of money makes an offer on storm that the owner cannot refuse.
With this money the owner can buy his son the horse that he really wants (Rowdy a horse that will rear on command) as well as 2 other horses one for himself and Lori.
However this only lasts until storm goes crazy in a parade because the girl who buys her cannot handle her, so Lori steps in and helps the mare calm down and essentially saves the day. The girl then explains she only bought the horse to spite lori and asks to trade for Loris new horse and they all live happily ever after....
anyways if anyone could provide me with the name of hte book i would be forever greatful!
