I am looking for an old romance novel that I read years ago. It was my favorite book but it was misplaced in a move. I do not remember who it was written by or even the title but I remember what it was about and even the characters names. It was set in the pre-civil war period, in the south on a plantation. The main character is a young girl by the name of Liberty Bordeaux, who has been in love with Jonah since she was 14. But Jonah was infatuated with her self-centered older sister Bandera. Her closest friend was her maid Oralee and a black woman who everyone believed was a witch. Bandera betrayed Jonah and he was forced to flee. Four years later he returns and comes upon Liberty by the river and is instantly interested. The story goes on from there.
Does anyone out there remember this book, or knows someone who does??? I would really appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you.
