Don't know name of childhood book from the 70's

I am looking for a book about a young boy who builds contraptions in his house and annoys his parents with his inventions. He feels rejected by his family so he runs away to the forest and build a fantastic tree house. His parents decide they were wrong and they go find him and bring him home where he is allowed to build his inventions. Does anyone know this book?
