Posted by Galen McBride Our homozygous black purebred Arabian mare, Rainbow's End Dark Dream (Nite Bandit, a Desperado V son, x KRA Black Nafisa), will be bred to Rembrandt early in July. Two other mares are already bred back to Condor. At least one of those foals is available for in utero sale. Several Welara foals by Glenhaven's other UK imported Section B Welsh stallions are already on the ground and available to select homes. All foals have been nominated for the 2005 (or 2006) VPBA Yearling Futurity - which are always held in conjunction with the Upperville Horse and Colt Show.

It's All in the Family!
Last weekend (June 11-12-13), we attended the internationally famous Upperville Horse and Colt Show in Upperville, VA. For hunter/jumper breeders and exhibitors, the Upperville show runs a close second only to the one held at Devon, PA. As you know, our breeding program includes both Arabian and Welara hunter/jumper ponies, so we were especially pleased that our good friend and breeding buddy, Glenhaven Welsh Ponies and Cobs in Unionville, did so well with their chestnut yearling gelding, Glenhaven Work of Art.
"Arty" won Grand Champion of the Virginia Pony Breeders Association 2004 Yearling Futurity and went on to take his Upperville Yearling Colt Class, the Best Yearling award, and the Best Young Pony in the show.
Arty's sire, *Downland Rembrandt, is a more than first cousin (both sires and dams are closely related) to *Downland Condor, one of the stallions we have used recently in our Welara breeding - with outstanding results, -- and we are also looking to have a Rembrandt foal of our own in 2005.
Successes like these can only help improve Welara popularity and salability in the hunter/jumper pony market. For more information about the Rainbow's End breeding program, contact us by telephone at 540-727-8408 or e-mail at galenmcb@erols.com
