Dear Betsy,
In reading your original question,I realize that I did not answer it.(Sorry!)
The traits I would look for in an Arab stallion are overall balance, correctness,& temperment. I personally like small ears and a large eye, especially in crossing to ponies.
If your stallion is well bred, nicely put together and happens to be on the small side, crossing to a Welsh mare just might be your niche. There is a market for quality ponies
and the Welara is such a wonderful choice! You might consider purchasing a quality Welsh mare, crossing her to your stallion and promoting from within. You may be able to see the potential, but many people need to see it in the flesh before they'll jump on the bandwagon! This is not a get rich quick venture, but if you believe in it,go for it!
Another consideration is to join a Welsh club in your area and do some networking. Good luck!!
