Well, I don't really know what to call Maverick's colour, I originally thought he was dun, but I have been informed he is a buckskin. He does change colour slightly every season so we're never too sure! When he was born, I thought he would be a palomino as he was golden with a white mane and tail! I thought that he may be a taffy, but unfortunately his sire and dam are now deceased, but I would love to find out just what colour he is. In summer he looks very dark, but in winter he becomes as golden as any palomino.
(Very strange!) He is now 10 and his summer coat gets darker and his winter coat gets ever lighter.
You can't tell from the pictures, but he was born with a white mane which turned black, but now it is mainly silver, if anyone is interested in seeing a few pictures, and could help me decide what colour he really is please help! The grey dam was fleabitten, maybe there is cremello gene in there somewhere? On the sire's side there has been one palomino, so I just don't know!
I think that he may be a taffy of some sort, which would make sense as a bay dilute. Help!
