I very well remember that when i got to VW4 Puerto Rico in 61, the birds were dull grey. I think we begin painting the tops white in 62 but could have been later in 61. Seems like the bottoms were painted a more glossy grey. I am having a model made in the Phillipines of 137891 and if you are interested i will send you pictures of it.
