who knows a bit about being a meteorologist?

hi, um im a fifth former, and am interested in being a meteorologist, i am fascinated by water spouts, hurricanes, torandos, lightning and cyclones. I have to do a project at school on a chosen career and was wondering if anyone knew whats involved in being a meteorologist and what kind of qualifications are needed.
