Well guys, my time with VW4 were the greatest times I spent in the USN. Loved the Mission, the people and the airplane (P3). It was truly unfortunate that the "Connie" mindsets caused a separation in the squadron to the point that many of us quit going to the reunions. Look, even today if you search VW4 you see " Connies and the mew who flew them". Well, the P3 is and was a superb aircraft that flew the Hurricane Hunter Mission extremely well as did the men AND women Of VW4. Remember Judy anyone? I can say the 4,000+ hours I flew in the P3A, WP3A, P3B and P3C were occasionally harrowing due to the mission never because of the aircraft design or reliability. The Hurricane Hunter mission was flown by other superb aircraft as well as the Connie. Chris Whitsitt, P3 Flight Engineer and "Once a Hunter".
