In 1950, I was 15 and a cub reporter for The Miami Daily News. For an article, I interviewed VP-23 crew members Lt. jg. Chester Hardenberg and Lt. jg. Richard Wilson at NAS Miami. I believe that this was the squadron's first newspaper interview and that it may have been the very first time the name Hurricane Hunters appeared in print. Can anyone verify?
