To all the Hurricane Hunters of VW-4. I regret to inform you of the passing of my good friend and your shipmate, Claude "Bryan" White (AT-1 or C). I'm not sure at what level he retired. He died tragically on Oct. 11th, enroute to his new home in Springfied, Missouri. He was with VW-4 during the years 1971-75, and worked in AIMD for the Hunters.
He was best man at my wedding in Nashville, Tennesse, in June of 1979. We had just renewed our friendship when Bryan stopped in on his way back to JAX to retrieve the last of his and wife, Mary's possesions. He was killed 3 hrs. south of my home, on his return trip. He had planned to stay a day or two with us.
His memorial service is at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 29th at the NAS Jax chapel. I will be attending the service. If anyone of you would like to come to the service or stop by to pay respects, both Mary and I would consider that quite an honor. Mary can be contacted, after her stay in Jacksonville, at 2879 S.
