While I understand that it must be difficult for parents who have children with disabilities of any kind, I cannot imagine how they came to the conclusion that it was okay do such a horrific thing to someone. Furthermore, what on earth has gone wrong in our world that there is no one to stop desperate parents like these from making a horrible decision? Where were the checks and balances in the human rights system that prevent such things from happening? Someone has to be a voice for those who cannot fight for themselves. Years ago, most parents could be trusted with that role; now I'm not so sure about that anymore. Maybe the support system for families with disabilities has failed them miserably, leading to such actions as this one.
