Can anyone share info, articles or experience in talking with a Jr. High School about remodeling a weight room by moving it to a basement? The original weight room was on the main level, up until about a month ago. They remodeled the basement under the gymnasium and moved all the weight lifting equipment down about 22 stairs! I thought that if a school remodeled anything, that it HAD to be wheelchair accessible. There is also no other exit out of the basement except 2 sets of 22 stairs on either side of the room. Can they really do that? Is this legal? We have 3 students that use wheelchairs for mobility in that school and 2 more coming in by next school year. Thank you so much for your input on this issue!
