Posted by Jeff Welch Three years ago my own family had to make similar decisions with regard to my brother Dan. These decisions included withdrawal of life-extending medical treatments for complications from MS. When you claim to represent the "disability community" in criticizing those who favored the husband's decisions to allow Terri Schiavo to die; or rant against Oregon's death with dignity law, or compare those of us who have to make these difficult decisions to Nazis or call us murderers - you do the entire community a disservice in failing to recognize the diversity of views in this arena. I am not a murderer. I am not a Nazi. I have no love for Eugenics or Aushwitz and I don't want to see people with disabilities put to death en masse. Get a grip. -Jeff

Speaking from a personal perspective, I am happy for Terri Schiavo that her wishes were finally allowed to be carried out.
